Visvaldis’ Obituary Visvaldis “Vis” Klasons, 86, passed away peacefully on April 27, 2019 at Stella Maris with family by his side. He left resting in the arms of the Lord and the love of his family and friends. Vis was born on March 14, 1933 in Riga Latvia to the late Augusts Klasons and Ida Freimanis Klasons.

Vis led a full and rich life. His family fled from the Russian invasion and settled in a displaced persons camp in Hanau, Germany. In 1950 they relocated to Baltimore Maryland.

He graduated from Woodlawn High School in 1953. He was drafted into the United States Army in 1953. After two years of active service in Berlin, Germenay, he returned to Baltimore and attended Johns Hopkins University, graduating in 1959.

He worked as an industrial engineer. Vis met his wife, Ilona Kaufert, in 1958 and they married in 1960. In 1963, they welcomed their son, Erik.

Vis had many interests which included photography, carpentry and a love for travel. Survivors include his loving wife of 59 years, Ilona Klasons, son Erik Klasons, brother-in-law Harry Kaufert, niece Emily Sandwell and many cherished family and friends. A celebration of Vis’ life will be held at the family owned Ruck Towson Funeral Home, Inc. 1050 York Rd.
