Vivian Elaine Betty June 24, 1928 – January 17, 2019 Share this obituary Send Sympathy Gifts Sign Guestbook| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Vivian Elaine Betty, 90 of Emporia, Kansas died Thursday, January 17, 2019 at the Holiday Resort Care Center in Emporia. Vivian was born June 24, 1928 in Creston, Iowa the daughter of Edgar and Georgia (Dawson) Hatfield. She was a homemaker, a member of the Emporia Presbyterian Church, Church Choir, Sweet Adeline’s Singing Group, the Emporia Community Chorus and the Emporia Garden Club.

Vivian enjoyed baking apple pies, putting together puzzles, doing crossword puzzles and playing scrabble. Vivian was known for her beautiful smile. On May 13, 1950 Vivian married Jerry L. Yewell in Ottumwa, Iowa.

He died June 18, 1968 in Emporia. She married Norman L. Betty on November 30, 1974 in Emporia. He survives.

Other survivors include: son Stephen Yewell of Olathe, Kansas, daughter Karen Moorman of Emporia, step-daughters Sara Cobb of Emporia and Ruth Ann Schmidt of Valparaiso, Indiana, grandchildren Michael Yewell, Joshua Yewell, Taylor Moorman, Richard Schmidt, Richelle Stackert, Neal Cobb, and Jessica Cobb, great-grandchildren Kate Stackert, George Stackert, Jaxton Yewell, Alexa Cobb, Dennis Cobb, Ruby Cobb and Via Cobb. She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, an infant son David Yewell, and sisters Joy Morgan and Marian Dodds. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Monday, January 21, 2019 at the Emporia Presbyterian Church.

Rev. Phyllis L. Stutzman will be officiating. Interment will be in the Maplewood Cemetery in Emporia.

The family will receive friends Monday, January 21, 2019 from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Emporia Presbyterian Church or the Emporia Friends of the Zoo and sent in care of Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home.
