OBITUARY Vivienne Kelli Garcia September 17, 2018 – January 17, 2019 On September 17, 2018, at 2:19 p.m., Vivienne Kelli Garcia was born at 34 weeks and 3 days, weighing 3 pounds 12 ounces and measuring 16. 5 inches. Vivienne was born with congenital heart disease (CHD) which affects 1% of babies born in the U.S., 25% of which are marked critical and require surgery within the first year of life.

Sweet Vivienne lived her life amongst the most loving, talented nurses and doctors at both Medical City Dallas and Dallas Children’s Hospital, and acquired a reputation for being the feistiest of heart warriors—namely due to her expert stink eye. She survived 12 hours in the operating room for her open heart surgery on November 5, a torsades de pointes arrhythmia on October 26, a G-tube and nissen fundoplication surgery on December 14, and a tracheostomy surgery on January 3. Shortly after her final surgery sweet Vivienne started to get sick, and with heart babies getting sick can be life threatening considering the lack of reserves heart kids have to recuperate.

On January 17, on her 4 month birthday, Vivienne Kelli, surrounded by her family, lost her battle with CHD. Snuggled in bed between her mom and dad Vivienne was told hundreds of times over how much she was loved and how proud Momma and Dada were of her fight, and she left us peacefully at 6:30 p.m. Vivienne “Full of Life” Kelli “Woman Warrior” Garcia will be forever remembered for her strength and bravery, and for the love and light she brought to everyone who knew her.
