Born in Camden, he lived in Orlando and Miami before returning to South Jersey several years ago. Tom attended school in Washington Township and Williamstown.

He was the loving owner of Smokey the cat and a lifelong fan of the Miami Dolphins. Beloved son, father, brother, uncle and cousin, Tom was predeceased by his father Walter Thomas Groves, Sr and stepfather Louis Formosa, Jr He is survived by his mother Kathleen J. Formosa, daughter Cortney N. Groves (Patrice Salamone), step-daughter Crystal D. Withers (Luis Rodriguez), sisters Kathleen J. Sincage (Jamie), Barbara J. Groves (Lisa Filipone) and Jennifer Hiltner (McKewn-Groves).

Family and friends are invited to his service on Saturday, February 2, 11am at Eglington Cemetery and Memorial Gardens, Clarksboro.
