Walter’s Obituary Funeral services for Walter Murray will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, February 3, 2019 in the chapel of Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home of Bunkie with Pastor Josh McElwee officiating. Burial will follow in Griffin Hills Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home of Bunkie.

Mr. Murray, age 71 of St. Landry, passed away on Friday, February 1, 2019 at Rapides Regional Hospital. He retired from the school system after 40 years of teaching. “Coach Murray” taught in Florida, New Jersey, Rapides, Avoyelles and Evangeline Parishes.

Rock ‘n’ Roll was his passion. He is preceded in death by a son, Anthony Micheal Christian Murray; his parents, Joseph J. and Jennie Sera Murray; and brothers, Billy and Joey Murray. Survivors include his wife of 21 years, Terry Blood Murray of St. Landry; a son, Thomas Joseph Edward Murray (Kimberly) of Elmer; step-children, Carolyn Epnett (Henry) of Tioga, Kevin Blood (Sherryl) of Bunkie and Marty Blood of St. Landry; his siblings, Joseph Murray, Edward Murray and Thomas Murray of Elizabeth, NJ and Anne Marie Sisbarro of Springfield, NJ; grandchildren, Arianna and Ayden Murray and Jason Dylan Malone; step-grandchildren, Donavon Epnett, Shamus Epnett, Colin, Jonathan, Josiah, Caleb, Jacob, and Annemarie Blood and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends may visit from 5:30 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Saturday and 10:30 a.m. until time of service at 2:30 p.m. at Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home of Bunkie. Online condolences may be sent to www.
