Obituary for Wendy Galan Wendy (Podell) Galan, age 69, passed away April 6, 2018, after a lengthy illness. Wendy was born March 22, 1949, in New York City and grew up in Lakewood, N.J. She moved to Columbus as a teenager, and she was proud to make the city her home for more than 50 years.

Wendy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Irwin; parents, Francine and Paul Podell; and her sister Lauri (Podell) Zofan. She is survived by her daughter, Paula (John) Campanelli; son, Alan (Holly) Galan; and her grandchildren, Peter, Claire, Isa, Asher, Finley and Isaac. Wendy was a graduate of Bexley High School and attended The Ohio State University.

She was a devoted and active member of Temple Israel, where she supported the congregation’s sisterhood and youth programs. She also enjoyed attending theater performances, traveling with her husband, playing bridge and cheering on The Ohio State Buckeyes. Wendy loved cooking (her beef brisket was unmatched) and hosting family and friends for gatherings and holidays.

Most of all, Wendy enjoyed the hugs, kisses and laughter of her grandchildren. Graveside services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Wendy’s memory to the Goldman Union Camp Institute Scholarship Fund, 9349 Moore Road, Zionsville, IN 46077, or guci.org/give.
