William “Bill” Cadenhead August 22, 1924 – January 25, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card On January 25, 2019, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, came down and rewarded His faithful servant, Bill, age 94, with “life eternal”. A celebration of life will be held Monday, January 28, 2019, at St Mark United Methodist Church with private graveside and burial at Williamson Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be at the church Monday from 11 a.m. until service time at 1 p.m. Dr. Mark Lacey and Rev.

John Drawhorn officiating. Tuscaloosa Memorial Park and Chapel will be directing. Bill was born August 22, 1924 in Lee County, Alabama to William L. and Mary Piper Cadenhead.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Edwin Cecil Cadenhead; and his first wife, Elizabeth Edmondson. He is survived by his wife, Virginia Dye Cadenhead; daughter, Donna; granddaughter, Saskia Clayton (Eric); nephew, Edwin Cecil Cadenhead, Jr.; niece, Celia Meyerholz; sister-in-law, Margaret Pate; brother-in-law, Fred Ray; and nieces and nephews. As a young lad, Bill farmed with his father in the Etteca Community.

He was a WWII veteran. As a teenager, he serviced airplanes at the Van de Graaf Airport; was a charter member of St. Mark United Methodist Church in Northport; worked 26 years as an employee of Union Furniture Store; had a long career as a “fixer” for things that were broken; was a charter member of the Northport Lions Club, serving for 64 years; and was a friend to all whom came in contact with him. Pallbearers will be Knute Christian, Aaron Christian, A.D. Christian Jr., Fred Ray, Roy Giles and Bob Green.

Honorary pallbearers are members of the Northport Lions Club, members of the McCollum Sunday School Class, Rev. Billy and Lettie Reeves, Eugene Grimes and friends of Northwood Lake and Shirley Farms Neighborhoods. In lieu of flowers, contributions of remembrance can be made to St. Mark United Methodist Church food pantry, Hospice of West Alabama or your favorite charity.
