Obituary for William “Bill” Clark Dennis Our loving father, husband, brother, and devoted friend William Clark “Bill” Dennis passed away early Sunday morning, April 15, 2018, on the family ranch that he loved so much. Bill was born on February 4, 1953, in Salinas California, to Samuel W. and Corolyn R. Dennis. He joined sister Sharon and was followed a year later by sister Terri.

The Dennis family resided on ranches in California and Washington. In the fall of 1959, the Dennis’ purchased the Sunrise “11” Ranch on Henderson Creek, near Maxville. Bill grew up on the Sunrise “11” Ranch and fell in love with the Montana lifestyle.

With the help of his parents, he learned to be a true cowboy and developed a work ethic beyond compare. There were many adventures had on the ranch and he made lifelong friends with so many wonderful people around the area. The ranch at Henderson Creek held a very special place in his heart.

Bill worked on the ranch alongside his folks and sisters until his parent’s retirement in 1982. In 1980, Bill met the love of his life Jeannie and on September 18, 1982 they were married. Together they were the dream team of ranching and shared everything and every day.

They moved to Hawaii for a time to work on the Mauna Kea Ranch. Realizing they dearly missed the mountains of Montana, they returned to run the Metesh Ranch south of Philipsburg near Porters Corner. The ranch developed into the Broken Circle Ranch and continued to grow and flourish with the work and dedication of Bill and Jean.

Bill loved his wife and children above all. His family meant the world to him and with their help they built the most beautiful and productive ranch in the Flint Creek Valley. He was so proud of the quality and condition of his cattle and horses on the ranch.

The ranch at Porter’s Corner is his life’s work and he worked so hard and took so much pride in the work that he and his family accomplished there. Bill was honest to flaw, a steadfast friend, and a good neighbor. He would always help anyone in need without hesitation.

He worked tirelessly to make the lives of those around him better. He was always up for a good laugh, a good joke, or a good old fashioned “BS” session with one of his many friends. He was always a teacher and passed his wealth of knowledge on to all who were willing.

Above all he was so proud of his children and the work ethic that he instilled in them. The lessons that he gently taught us will never be forgotten. In 2015, he was blessed with the addition of son-in-law Leo Seitz.

He was so happy with Megan’s choice in a husband. Their wedding on Flint Creek was one of the happiest times we ever had on the ranch. Bill was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents and many special friends.

Bill is survived by his loving wife Jeannie and son Sam of Philipsburg, daughter and son-in-law Megan and Leo Seitz of Butte, sister and brother in law Sharon and Ken Fillbach of Maxville, sister Terry of Corvallis, Brothers-in-law and their families: Bill and Lisa Metesh, David and Becky Metesh, Mark and Doris Metesh, and Tom McGuire, all of Philipsburg. He is also survived by nephews, nieces, and many good friends too numerous to list. Dad we will miss you every day and carry you with us forever.

We will never forget the things you taught us and the stories you told us, your kind and gentle way of living, and the example that you set for us. Happy trails till we meet again, we love you… The family suggests in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the Philipsburg Volunteer Fire Dept.
