William Percy “Bill” Atkins of Tacoma, Washington, was born on August 7, 1952 in Fort Worth, Texas to parents William Pearl Atkins and Mittie Christine Slate Atkins. He died on March 23, 2019 in Tacoma, Washington at the age of 66 years. Bill was raised and attended schools in Fort Worth, Texas.

He graduated from high school and later joined the United States Army in 1974. He was stationed overseas in Germany for 1 ½ years and was honorably discharged after 6 years of service. Bill was united in marriage to Vickie Huber on August 30, 1986 in Federal Way, Washington.

He worked at the Fort Lewis Army Base in logistics until 1999. He later worked for Boeing for several years before retiring in 2015. Bill enjoyed woodworking where he made beautiful furniture, painting, drawing, gardening, hunting, fishing, going on road trips and was an avid sports fan.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years: Vickie Atkins, Tacoma, WA; sons: Timothy Atkins and wife Tabatha, Renton, WA, Jeromy Atkins, Spokane, WA, Bryan Jeffers-Atkins and Jonathan Jeffers, both of Tacoma, WA; brother: Fred Pullium, Texas; sisters: Elaine Shotwell and Paula Menendez, both of Texas, Renee Peebles, Parkland, WA; 5 grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers: Wayne, Glenn and Tommy, and a sister: Brenda. A graveside military service will be held on Thursday, March 28, 2019 at 12:30 P.M. at Tahoma National Cemetery, Kent, Washington.
