Obituary for William “Billy” C. Melton Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford Mr. William “Billy” C. Melton, 67, passed away Thursday, September 6, 2018, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, TN. Visitation will be Monday, September 10, 2018, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Coleman Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held Monday, September 10, 2018, at 2:30 p.m. at Pine Flat Cemetery (40 CR 422, Oxford, MS 38655).

Interment will be at Pine Flat Cemetery. Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Melton was born in Memphis.

He worked for the Mississippi Forestry Department for over 40 years. Mr. Melton was an easy-going man who always put others before himself. He always enjoyed fishing and Sunday afternoon drives with his wife of 45 years, Katherine.

Mr. Melton also loved working with the Lafayette County 3 Volunteer Fire Department. However, nothing meant more to him than his family and friends. Mr. Melton is survived by his wife, Katherine Melton of Oxford; his mother-in-law, Mary Helen Chandler of Water Valley, MS; three brothers-in-law, Gary (Vicky) Chandler of Oxford, and Randy (Martha) Chandler and Criss Chandler, both of Water Valley; two sisters-in-law, Judy (Joe) Potts of Water Valley, and Amy (Billy) Myles of Pearl, MS; one uncle, Homer (Ruth) Melton of Tillatobia, MS; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Mr. Melton was preceded in death by his father, Deward Melton; his mother, Willie Melton; and his father-in-law, Clarence Criss Chandler. Donations and memorials in honor of Mr. William C.
