William Earl Brandon, Jr. August 16, 1916 – May 15, 2019 Share this obituary Send Sympathy Gifts View/Sign Guest Book| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card BRANDON, William Earl – Of Flushing, age 102, died Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at Genesee Gardens. A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 20, 2019 at Hope United Methodist Church, G-4467 Beecher Road, Flint, Reverend Carol Blair Bouse officiating. Family will receive friends in the church parlor at 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday, May 20, 2019 at 11 a.m. Cremation has taken place.

Visitation 1-4 p.m. Sunday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hope United Methodist Church Memorial Fund or the American Cancer Society. William was born in Cumberland City, TN on August 16, 1916, the son of William and Maynie (Handlan) Brandon.

In 1940 he married Betty J. Steffen in Flint. William served in the military during World War II. He was a member of Central United Methodist Church since 1929 and a member of Hope United Methodist Church since 2002.

Bill loved golfing, bowling and did so into his mid-90’s. He was the oldest participant in the Crim Race at the age of 94 in 2010. Mr. Brandon was employed by Fisher Body Plant #2 for 37 years, retiring in 1970.

He was employed by King Par for 22 years, retiring in 1999. Surviving are son, Larry and wife Sharon of Novi, MI; two daughters, Barbara Pichey and Patricia Smith, both of Fenton, MI; five grandchildren, Tammi Brandon, Joseph Pichey, Nicholas Smith, Eric Brandon and Erin Cruz; six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty, in 2010; parents, William and Maynie; sister, Ethel LaVanway and brother, Bob, who died serving his country during World War II.
