William G. “Jerry” Eucker, 80, of Elyria, passed away Sunday, December 2, 2018 at Wesleyan Village, Elyria, following a brave, four year battle with cancer. Jerry was born in Elyria and raised by loving grandparents, Jay and Josephine Hardy. He graduated from Firelands High School in 1957.

He then enlisted in the Marine Corps on June 15, 1957 and was honorably discharged from the Marine Corps Reserves on October 17, 1964. Jerry married the love of his life, Wilma J. (nee Budweg) on July 5,… Read More » 1958. They felt blessed to share their 6oth wedding anniversary with family and many friends at a celebration held at the Amvets post # 32 in Elyria in July.

Jerry retired from American Airlines after 37 years of service between Cleveland Hopkins Airport and Chicago O’Hare Airport. He also did taxes at Chester’s Tax Service in Wakeman for a combined 32 years. Jerry was an avid fisherman.

He and Wilma spent their vacations at Dale Hollow Resort in Celina, TN. For more than 34 years. You could find him at the dock in Lorain many times a week either fishing himself or just stopping to see if the fish were biting.

His last fishing trip was a charter trip on Lake Erie this past July with his wife and family. Jerry is survived by his beloved wife of more than 60 years, Wilma, his loving children Justine (Calvin) Streets of Elyria, Jim Eucker of Elyria, Wendy (Terry) Brodin of Island Lake, IL. , Juanita Eucker of Colona, IL.

, cherished grandchildren Paul (Missy) Richards of Beaver, WV. , Leslie (Duane) Richards of Elyria, Mindy (Steve) Nielsen of Elyria, Melissa (Austin) Knee of Wauconda, IL. , Stephanie (Aaron) Beall of Elyria, Kenny Dahlberg of McHenry, IL.

, Devin Jennings and Dallas Jennings of Colona, IL, and treasured great-grandchildren Remington Richards and Autumn Richards of Beaver, WV. . He is loved and will be missed by many more including his little bald dog, Itty Bitty.

He is preceded in death by loving grandparents Jay and Josephine Hardy, his parents Bill and Alice Eucker, and precious grandson Jason Everson. The family has chosen not to have a funeral service at this time but will instead have a celebration of his life in the summer at the lake he enjoyed so much. Arrangements were entrusted to the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Elyria, 440-322-4626.
