Obituary for William Gerod Van Dongen William Gerod Van Dongen, 88, of Naples, FL passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 27, 2018 at Naples Community Hospital. Formerly of Clifton, NJ he had been a resident of Naples for over 10 years. William was born April 11, 1930 in Passaic, NJ the son of the late Gary and Caroline (nee Zoon) Van Dongen.

Mr. Van Dongen was a Korean War Veteran, serving in the United States Navy from 1948-1952. His career was spent manufacturing and repairing packaging machinery. William was known to be very handy and enjoyed tinkering in his workshop in his spare time, but the time he spent with his family was most important.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 66 years, Katherine Marie (Koromhas) Van Dongen; loving children, William B. (Marguerite) Van Dongen of Kissimmee, FL, Vanessa Van Dongen of Cape Canaveral, FL, and Nadine (Kenneth) Ullman of Naples, FL; cherished grandchildren, Devin, Katy, Amie and Jessica; and great grandchildren, Peter, Elizabeth, Emma, Zoii, Juno and Rayne. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Shirley Triolo. A private family service will be held on June 7, 2018 at Sarasota National Cemetery where he will be laid to rest with military honors.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in the name of William G. Van Dongen to the Wounded Warrior Project, support. woundedwarriorproject.org. Arrangements are being handled by Shikany’s Bonita Funeral Home.
