William Harvey Grubbs, 97, of Florence, formerly of Sheffield, passed away Saturday, March 09, 2019. His family will receive friends for visitation at Colbert Memorial Chapel on Monday, March 11, 2019 from 12-2pm. His funeral service will follow in the chapel beginning at 2pm with Larry Kilpatrick officiating.

Burial will follow in Colbert Memorial Gardens. He was a member and former deacon of Cox Blvd. Church of Christ.

He served in the United States Army during World War II. William retired from Reynolds Metals after many years of loyal service as an electrician. He was a member of the Local 558.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Gertrude Grubbs; wives, Etha McMullins and Chappelle McGuire Grubbs; brothers, Melvin Grubbs and Wayne Grubbs; and sister, Ann Scott. William is survived by his son, Glen F. Grubbs (Judy); daughter, Wiletha “Lea” Black (Robert); grandchildren, Chris Black (Brandy), Cindy Griffith, Scott Grubbs (Monica), Tony Grubbs (Chantelle), and Tim Grubbs (Malia); seventeen great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Hazel Grubbs; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Pallbearers will be Chris Black, Scott Grubbs, Tony Grubbs, Tim Grubbs, Case Griffith, and Max Eady.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Kevin Dillon Mission fund C/O Mars Hill Church of Christ, 1330 Mars Hill Rd. Florence, AL 35630. You may sign the online register at colbertmemorial.com.
