Mr. William James ‘WJ’ ‘Bill’ Messer, age 77, passed away at his home in Lexington, Kentucky on Tuesday, November 20, 2018. He was a son of the late Eligah and Minnie Messer of Heidrick, Kentucky. He was a faithful member of Grace Baptist Church in Lexington, Kentucky.

He is predeceased by brother Don and sister Janet Messer Price. William ‘WJ’ is survived by his wife Marietta Mills Messer and sister Glenda Messer Owens. He will forever be remembered by his loving nieces, nephews, in-laws and dear friends.

Family and close friends will meet at Cobb Hampton Funeral Home in Barbourville, Kentucky on Friday, November 23, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. and proceed to the Doolin Cemetery at Heidrick for a graveside memorial service and burial. Pallbearers will be nephews and friends. Cobb-Hampton Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.

A Celebration of Life service will be arranged at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in loving memory of ‘WJ’ ‘Bill’ Messer may be made to Grace Baptist Church, Feed the Hungry, 811 Bryan Avenue, Lexington, Kentucky 40505. To the Messer family, the staff of Cobb-Hampton Funeral Home would like to express our heartfelt sympathy during your time of bereavement.
