He accepted Christ at an early age and united with Mount Zion Baptist Church in Ennis, Texas. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends; riding on motorcycles and most of all he loved to laugh and talk.

William departed this life on May 5, 2019 in Dallas, Texas. Those left to cherish his loving memory; his sisters, Virgie Williams (Nina and Lawanda) of Dallas and Johnnie White (Paul) of McKinney; sons, Kevin Lewis (Kaylon and Darion) of Ennis, Lamichael Thomas (Mesha and Demichael) of Dallas and Johnny Thomas (Vishonda, Tricia, Jazneka and Jasmine); daughters, Lakesha and her husband Javier (Ladytria, LaTrevia and Jailyn) and Natarsha Wafford (Tijenae, Daron and Tinajah); step sons, Katari and James Wafford both of Ennis and stepdaughter, Latonya Wilkerson and her husband Darvin of Dallas and a host of other relatives and friends.
