William Carson Merritt, age 63, died peacefully at his home on July 26, 2018, surrounded by his loving family. Born on December 6, 1954 in Kansas City, Kansas, he was the son of Carson Vernon & Gladys Anita Flaggard Merritt. Bill served in the United States Navy and was a Vietnam Veteran.

He worked for the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad for 26 years and Advantage Metals for 8 years. Bill leaves behind his wife, Cathy, two sons, James (Heather) Burris & Michael Shawn Merritt… Read More » & his daughter, April (Scott) Wilson, as well as his siblings: Steven (Martha) Merritt, Dr. Michael V (Minchong) Merritt, Allen (Alma) Merritt, Deborah (Bill) Gibbs, Sherrie (Glen) Diale, Pete (Melissa) Merritt, Sheila (Dale) Krull and James (Karen) Hargrave and his grandchildren: MacKenzy, Brayden, David, Kylie, Natalie, Sage & Cullen. Bill was preceded in death by his Mother, Gladys Hargrave and his brother, James Merritt.

Visitation will be from 4-6 PM Saturday July 28, 2018 at Souder Family Funeral Home, 1333 NE Barry Road, Kansas City, MO 64155. Celebration of Life to follow at Lost Bar. Please help celebrate the life of William by sharing a memory or expressing your condolences to the family.
