Obituary for William R. Petty William Robert Petty, 81, of Huntersville, NC, formerly of Spartanburg, SC, died Tuesday, December 25, 2018, at Novant Huntersville Hospital. Born October 12, 1937, in Spartanburg, SC, he was the son of the late William Henry and Louise Whitlock Petty and the husband of the late Elizabeth Ann Belk Petty. A graduate of Western Carolina University, Mr. Petty was a member of St. James United Methodist Church and retired as a director of quality control in the textile industry.

He also served proudly in the U. S. Army and Army Reserves. Survivors include three sons, William Robert Petty, Jr. and wife, Angella of Maryville, TN, Keith Petty of Huntersville, NC, and Alan Petty and wife, Karon, also of Huntersville, NC; and six grandchildren, Elizabeth Petty of Maryville, TN, Alec, Collin, Ben and Drew Petty of Huntersville, NC and John Petty of Greensboro, NC. He was predeceased by a sister, Teresa P. Finley.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM Wednesday, January 2, 2019, at Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307, by The Rev. Wayne Smith and The Rev. Will Harper.

The family will receive friends at the chapel following the service. Burial, with military rites, will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd. , Spartanburg, SC 29307.
