William Stephen “Steve” Madden, 67, of Methuen, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, September 5, 2018. “Steve” was born in Lawrence on June 26, 1951. He was a graduate of St. Rita’s Grammar School in Lawrence, and Tenney High School in Methuen.

In his youth, he assisted his father, the late Joseph G. Madden, in the operation of Madden’s Sunnymeade Milk Farm of Methuen. Later, he was employed as a District Manager for the Lawrence Eagle Tribune, and in Security Services at Holy Family Hospital in Methuen, from where he retired. He was a lifelong resident of Greater Lawrence.

Steve enjoyed attending local sporting events and spending time with his family. He was a communicant of St. Patrick’s Church of South Lawrence. “Steve” was the beloved son of the late Joseph G. and Mary A. (Reardon) Madden, and is survived by his two brothers, Richard K. Madden of Belmont and Thomas J. Madden of Andover; a sister-in-law, Dorothy T. Madden of Andover, and several nieces and nephews.

Steve was predeceased by his brother, Joseph G. Madden, Jr. A Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, September 11, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. in St. Patrick’s Church, 118 So. Broadway, Lawrence. Burial will follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Lawrence.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to calling hours on Monday, September 10, 2018, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Dewhirst and Boles Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Methuen, MA 01844.
