Obituary of William MacCaull William “Bill” J. MacCaull, 70, of Sterling, born February 24, 1948, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 9, 2018 at his home. Bill was born in Ogdensburg, NY to the late Raymond “Mac” and Marie (Hyatt) MacCaull. He graduated high school in 1966 from St. Mary’s Academy in Ogdensburg and continued his education at Clarkson University where he graduated in 1971 with a degree in engineering.

Bill worked as a civil engineer and project manager for 35 years. The first 25 years were spent with Walsh Construction and the last 10 with several other firms. The projects he worked on varied from nuclear plants, to hydro-electric dams, incinerators, power plants, and a hockey arena before he retired in 2006.

Travel was a favorite pastime for Bill. He and his wife spent their retired years exploring places like Alaska, Belize, Canada, Costa Rica and Panama. Bill could accomplish anything he set his mind to and built a beautiful A-Frame house virtually by himself.

Boot prints are still visible on the ceiling planks that he held in place with his legs while lying on scaffolding over twenty feet up. An avid outdoorsman he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and “living off the land” as he called it. But most of all he loved spending time with his family.

When you were with Bill, a game of cards was in hand along with hearing stories of his adventurous and fulfilling life. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister Ann. Bill will be forever loved by his wife of 38 years, Patricia (Moore); sons, Michael (Beth) and William “Billy”; grandson Colton; brother Joe (Mel); sisters, Carolyn (George) Trippany, Sue (Don) Dodd, Mary “Mick” (Ron) Green and Martha (Bob) Allen; many nieces and nephews.

An amazing man, “Big Bill” who “has no regrets and lived a full life”, will never be forgotten but always remembered and loved by many. At Bill’s request there will be no services. Foster Funeral Home, Hannibal, has care of arrangements.
