Willis was born August 8, 1933, in McComb, to the late, Samuel Pleas and Carrie Jones Simmons.

Visitation will be Monday December 31, 2018 from 11 AM until services at 1 PM at Hartman-Jones Funeral Home of McComb. Rev. Hugh Lambert will officiate and burial will be in Simmons Cemetery.

Willis was a retired East Baton Rouge Parish Deputy Sheriff and a member of the Silver Creek Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp and the U.S. Navy during the Korean War as a HM3 Corpsman. In his retirement years he drove school bus for ten years for the North Pike School system.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He enjoyed horses, the outdoors, cutting grass and being in the barn. He will be sadly missed by those who knew and loved him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Mary Louise Hennare, one grandson, Sammy Simmons and one great-grandson. He is survived by his wife Chellette Daniel Simmons, three sons, Samuel Simmons, Jeff Simmons and Robert White (Audrey); four daughters, Brenda Moore (Mike), Angela King (David), Tamala Lowry and Carrie Harper (Bryant); one sister, Betty Lessard (Aubrey) with numerous grand, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
