Mr. Willmon “Pump”‘s Obituary Willmon “Pump” Bell, 84 of Holly Hill, South Carolina returned to his heavenly home on October 22, 2018. His devoted family and his belief and acceptance of Jesus Christ supported him in his last days and ultimately gave him peace. Willmon was born to the late Lawton and Eloise Bell on October 19, 1934.

Willmon was educated in Holly Hill public schools. The youngest of eight children, his siblings Gussie, William, Albert, Leroy, Hermese, Isaac and Jacob preceded him in death. He was the true epitome of a “farm boy” and raised hogs and chickens for much of his life until his declining health prevented him from doing so.

In addition to life on the farm, he maintained full- time employment in various capacities and worked for several years at the Holly Hill Lumber company. He had a strong work ethic and was a dedicated worker. Willmon worked hard but he played hard as well.

He was a fun-loving social butterfly who was naturally the center of attention. Willmon was extremely debonair and took pride in his appearance and was always well-dressed. He loved music and had a wonderful voice and displayed his vocal ability as a member of a gospel group in his younger days.

He had a magnetic personality and was very relatable. He was able to connect to the younger generation just as well as his peers. He was even a surgeon in his own right.

Willmon had the unique skill of performing the castration of a pig before the slaughter and he was the best in Holly Hill at it. More than anything Willmon loved his family and was blessed with a large and loving one. He married his former partner Louise Mallard on April 24, 1954 in Holly Hill, South Carolina.

To this union, eight beautiful children were born. Willmon adored his children and the feeling was more than reciprocated as they equally adored their “Daddy”. In the last several years of his life Willmon had the companionship of his beloved Mary, whom he married on December 23, 2017.

Willmon is survived by his devoted wife Mary, his daughters; Lucinda and Louvenia, of Boston, MA. His sons: Willmon Lee, of Charleston South Carolina, Herbert and Michael, of Holly Hill South Carolina, Robert Lee, Arthur (Angelica), Abraham, Larry (Keisha), of Boston, MA; three adopted children: Ashley, Imani and Jayvon. Willmon will also be fondly remembered by sixteen grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, five stepchildren, one special and dear niece, Emma Dingle, of Holly Hill South Carolina, one sister-in-law, Mariah Bel,l of Boston, MA and a host of loving niece, nephews and friends.

Willmon is dearly missed by his loved ones who celebrate the fact that he is at peace with his creator. Friends may call at the residence, 106 Maybell Lane, Holly Hill, SC and at the funeral home.
