Adeline (Martin) Irby was born on Saturday, October 24, 1931 to Bessie (Bishop) and Dave Martin in Marion, Alabama. She departed this life on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at Majestic Healthcare. In 1950, she relocated to Fort Wayne, Indiana and united in holy matrimony to James Irby, Sr. and unto this union three children were born.

She accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Pilgrim Baptist Church, under the leadership of the late Rev. John Dixie. She was employed by Fort Wayne State Developmental Center and retired after many years of dedicated service.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She was loved dearly by her family and will truly be missed. Adeline leaves to cherish her beautiful memory, two sons, James Irby, Jr. and Gregory (Bobbie) Irby; one daughter, Annette (Tony) Lockett; brother, LC (Carolyn) Martin; sisters, Rosie Chapman and Artelia (L.C.) Jackson both of Fort Wayne, Mattie (James) Ridley of Eads, TN, and Shirley (Doug Schrems) Wade of Lakeland, FL; special cousin, Charlie Sims; and a host of grandchildren.

great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Irby, Sr.; parents, Dave and Bessie Martin; sister, Delphia Tubbs; brothers, Robert Martin, Wade “Shorty” Martin, Roosevelt “Jake” Johnson, Ludie Johnson, Frank Johnson, and Tony Johnson.
