Mount Sacred Heart Provincial House, Littleton, NH — Sister Agnes Plante (St. Jude), FCSCJ, passed away suddenly at Catholic Medical Center in Manchester, NH, on Saturday, June 9, 2018. She had resided at the Holy Cross Health Care Center, since 2015. Sister Agnes was born in Nashua, NH on January 20, 1923.

She entered the Congregation of the Daughters of the Charity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus (FCSCJ) in Colebrook, NH in 1951 and professed her vows on July 18, 1953. Her missions included teaching and school administration in Champlain and Morrisonville, NY; and Colebrook, NH. From 1977 to 1993 she was a bookkeeper for in the Bishop’s Fund Office — Diocese of Burlington, VT.

In 1993, Sister Agnes joined the Mount Sacred Heart community in Littleton, NH and became Provincial Archivist until 2015, when in her declining health, she moved to the Lafayette Center in Franconia, NH for several months. In December 2015, Sister Agnes moved to Holy Cross Health Care Center in Manchester, NH, where she resided until this month. Sister Agnes is survived by many nieces and nephews, and her Sisters in religion.

She was predeceased by her parents and her siblings: Eugene and Alma Plante; Madeleine Trombly, Marguerite Mulligan, Gabrielle Burpee, Camille Bouchard, Jeannette Lizotte, Noel Plante, and Ernest Plante. Sister Agnes was dear to her family, her colleagues in school and work environments, and her religious family. She had multi-facetted artistic talents, from painting landscapes to creating greeting cards on her computer.

Sister Agnes had a keen appreciation for the arts – good music, visual arts, and indoor gardening. She deeply treasured her family and friends and always found ways to make them feel special, especially in her frequent phone communications. Her service to community needs and ministries was taken very seriously and exercised with exceptional dedication.

The Sisters wish to express much gratitude to the staff at Mount Sacred Heart, Lafayette Center, and Holy Cross Health Care Center for their many kindnesses to Sr. Agnes throughout her years in Littleton, Franconia, and Manchester. May you all know the blessings of true dedication to the infirm and aging among us. Prayer Service while receiving the body at Mount Sacred Heart Chapel on Monday, June 11 at 4:00 p.m. Viewing hours beginning at 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 12, 2018, at Mount Sacred Heart Chapel with Very Rev.

Mark Dollard presiding. Burial will follow at 2:30 p.m. in St. Mary Cemetery in Newport, VT.
