Agnes’ Obituary Agnes Virginia Aultman Turner 1919 ~ 2019 Agnes Virginia Aultman Turner died Feb 2, 2019 surrounded by family in Green Cove Springs, FL. She was born March 29, 1919, in Bainbridge, GA, to William Cicero and Fareby Eugenia (Harrell) Aultman. She attended Pine Hill School, Georgia State College for Women and the University of Georgia.

She taught school at West Bainbridge, Pine Bloom, and Leary, GA. She and her high school sweetheart, Dewey Clevie ‘Doc’ Turner, were married 66 yrs when he died in 2007. After they wed in 1941, they operated a ‘rolling grocery store’ for Settles Bros.

in Leary, GA and farmed. Clevie, was deployed to Cairo, Egypt in WW II as a medic in the Army in the African-Middle East theatre. Agnes and their child, Marsha Ann, moved to Camp Blanding, FL, where Agnes worked on the ‘Home Front’ in the alterations of military clothing at her in-laws’ laundry.

Clevie returned in 1946; they made their new home in Green Cove Springs and for the next 33 yrs owned and operated the Liberty Red & White IGA Grocery. Son, Terry Glynn, blessed their lives in 1949. Born a Methodist, Agnes was a member of First Baptist, where she taught in the junior dept, and later attending Orange Ave, then Hibernia Baptist churches.

She was a member of the Eastern Star, Garden Club, numerous bowling leagues, boat club, and the Women’s Club. ‘Doc’ always felt like he struck gold when he married his dear Agnes and always said ‘they never made another like her’. Agnes’ claim to fame was her genuine sweet spirit and her passion as an immaculate seamstress; she spent hours creating quilts, clothing, drapes, and her daughter’s wedding dress.

Agnes is predeceased by her husband, parents, sister, Mildred Rogers, brothers, Morris and Owen and their wives Clara and Emmie. She is survived by her children: Marsha Owens (David) and Terry (Deborah); a sister-in-law, Pat Turner, of Pensacola; and five grandchildren: Terrianne (Cary) Dicks, Laurie Lee (David) Burke, John (Joybeth), Todd (Penny), and Ryan (Jenny) Turner; 14 great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews & cousins. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at 1:00 pm in the Broadus-Raines Chapel with Dr. David A. Howell officiating.

The family will receive friends from 12:00pm until service time. Interment will follow immediately at Hickory Grove Cemetery on Hwy 16 West, Green Cove Springs.
