OBITUARY Albert D. Velardi September 23, 1956 – January 8, 2019 Play Tribute Movie In lieu of flowers, donations to Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation, www. tunnel2towers.org in Albert’s name are appreciated. Albert D. Velardi Jr., 62, of Smithtown passed away suddenly on Tuesday, January 8, 2019.

He is survived by his children, Gina (Ed) and Nicholas ; grandchildren Anthony, Gianna, Sophia, and Adrianna; his mother, Jennie; father-in-law, Joseph Alesia; sisters, Sally (Bob) LaMay , Donna, and Lisa; his girlfriend, Nancy Pitaro; sister and brother-in-laws; nieces and nephews; cousins; and amazing life long friends. He was preceded in death by his, wife, Joanne, his mother- in- law Nancy Alesia. , and his father, Albert Albert D. Velardi Jr., was born on September 23, 1956 .

He rose through the ranks of the Queens District Attorney’s Office, retiring in 2013 as Deputy Chief Investigator. On November 10, 1979, he married his high school sweetheart, Joanne. Shortly after they married, they were blessed with two beautiful children, Gina and Nicholas, who would continue to bring them joy and pride throughout their lives.

Al lived for his family. Although he had an indescribable stubbornness about him with a tough exterior, once you truly knew Al, you knew he was a genuine, loving, caring person who brought fun and laughter to everyone around him. In his spare time, he enjoyed reading, drinking exotic wines, and relaxing on his favorite couch watching his favorite television shows.

Al truly was a wonderful person who has left an everlasting impression on everyone he has encountered. He will be greatly missed by all. In accordance with his wishes, a memorial service will be held on Sunday, January 13, 2019 from 12 p.m.to 4 p.m. at Claude R. Boyd-Caratozzolo Funeral Home 1785 Deer Park Avenue, Deer Park, New York.

In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in his name to ‘Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation’.
