Alberta Jane Boss Todd, May 07, 1940 — February 25, 2019

Alberta’s Obituary Alberta Jane (Boss) Todd was born on in Bridgewater, NY on May 7, 1940. She one of eight children and was raised in Richfield Springs, NY, and attended State University of New York’s Teachers College at Brockport, where she earned a degree in Elementary Education. Alberta died on February 25, 2019, in Mesa, Arizona, at 78 years of age.

On July 20, 1963, she married John Stevens Todd, also of Richfield Springs, NY. The newlyweds moved to Arizona, where Alberta began her teaching career and John worked as a police officer for the City of Phoenix while working on his teaching degree. Alberta earned her Master’s Degree in Education at Arizona State University.

The couple raised four children, John Quinton, Allison Rachael, Andrea Christina and Audrey Joanna. After quitting teaching to raise her children, Alberta was an active member of the Mount of Olives Lutheran Church congregation. She ran the church’s vacation bible school programs for several years, worked part-time as the church secretary, and took a leading role in the church’s efforts to help settle refugee families from war-torn areas like Vietnam and Cambodia in the late Alberta was also an active member of the Ladies Auxiliary for the Orpheus Male Chorus of Phoenix, a group that John sang in for nearly 20 years.

John passed away on January 27, 2000. As her children grew and left home, Alberta opened a pre-school in her home, aimed at preparing children for Kindergarten. She took great joy in not only teaching these youngsters, 1970s.

but helping raise her grandchildren who lived in the Valley. She is survived by three sisters, her four children, daughter-in-law Lisa, eleven grandchildren (JT, Jacob, Joshua, Ryan, Victoria, Megan, Nathaniel, Andrea, Alyson, Sebastian and Stellan), and one great-grandchild, due in April. A celebration of her life will be held at Mount of Olives Lutheran Church in Phoenix, AZ at 1:30 p.m. on May 18, 2019.
