Obituary for Alberta R. “Betty” Doorley Alberta R. “Betty” Doorley, 100, of Wapakoneta, died 10:20 a.m., Wed. Jan. 9, 2019, at The Gardens of Wapakoneta.
She was born Oct. 20, 1918, in Auglaize Co., OH, the daughter of George N. & Florentine (Schneider) Fisher, who preceded her in death. On April 14, 1948, she married James M. Doorley, who preceded her in death on Dec.
1, 2013. Survivors included, 4 children, Linda (Dave) Settlemire, Lima, Mary Ellen (Virgil) Brown, Moulton, OH, Karen (Ned Ruck) Nagel, Wapakoneta, Thomas Doorley, Wapakoneta, 10 grandchildren, Michelle Early, Amy (Travis) Parker, Dan Settlemire, Sara (Ben) Estes, Jessica Brown, Holly (Alex) Martinez, Matt (Heather) Nagel, Kelli (Joe) White, Becky (Bryan) McClain, Mike (Shelly) Nagel, 14 great grandchildren, 2 sisters-in-law, Alice Kohler, & JoAnn Eberle. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Jason Nagel, siblings and spouses, Freda (Ray) Dieringer, Clarence (Rita) Fisher, Bernard (Marian) Fisher, James (Martha) Fisher, Marie (Bill) Gutman, Frances (Albert) Kohlrieser, Linda (Jerry) Meyer, Erma (Linus) Rosengarten, Florence (Bernard) Fortman, and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Maxine (Ed) Horman, Irene (Paul) Freytag, Donnet Kohler, and Ed Eberle.
A homemaker and farm wife, Betty, was also an election poll worker for 38 years. She was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church, Wapakoneta, where she was active with the former Ladies Sodality and the Adoration Chapel. She is a 1937 graduate of St. Joseph High School.
She enjoyed traveling, gardening, canning, hunting mushrooms, crocheting, and spending time with her family. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Sat. Jan.
12, 2019, at the St. Joseph Catholic Church, Wapakoneta, Fr. Jarred Kohn officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Joseph Cemetery, Wapakoneta.
The family will receive friends from 3-8 p.m., Fri. Jan. 10, at the Eley Funeral Home and Crematory, 1102 Lincoln Ave.
(St. Rt. 501), Wapakoneta. Memorials may be directed to the St. Joseph Catholic Church Capital Improvement Fund or the St. Rita’s Hospice.
