OBITUARY Alec Lawrence Mangaliman August 10, 1947 – November 14, 2018 Alec Lawrence Mangaliman On Wednesday, November 14, 2018, Alec Lawrence Mangaliman, a very loving caring husband and father of four caring lovely children,and a very proud grandfather of 3 loving grandkids, a caring brother and brother in law and uncle passed away age of 71. Alec was born on August 10, 1947, in Bantay, Ilocos Sur, Philippines, to Frederico Mangaliman and Maria Salome Arellano. Alec received his medical technologist degree from Centro Escolar University in 1968 ,met Estrella Reyna and become the love of his life in college years, after college, as a naturalized US citizen by birth , was drafted in military training specialized in the stratcom communication US Army was asingend in Pentagon .

After 3 years service in the US Army was discharged with honors, went back home and married his 4 years distance fiancee Estrella and like a fairy tale, live together forever encounting our 46 years,as our aging progress, through better and worst. From his army veteran benefits, he pursued and trained himself. he loved going back school and earned his diploma in community college, dept of Engineering, including computer programming , and Robotics, few certificates in welding , as his first passion ambition to become, during his youthful college years, like his idol, late uncle Eng.

Martin Arellano who shared his passion as part in building the lake washington floating bridge. Later he worked between Todd and Lockheed Shipyard. After laid off, he went back and worked with University of Washington Research Team about Apo Protein in our bodies.

After the reseach project he pursue again his passion in Engeneering and worked as construction inspector with Washington State Department of Transportation till hisberetirement. He served in the United States Armed Forces and was honorably discharged in 1973. September 21, 1972, he married Estrella T. Reyna in Manila, Philippines.

Together they raised four. Alec had a passion for fishing and he enjoyed traveling to the various fishing spots around the Puget Sound and on the Washington coast. As a young man, he lived in San Mateo, California, and would always talk about how beautiful Half Moon Bay was when he was there.

He loved cars and enjoyed working on them. He loved to play chess, teaching his kids how to play and later his three grandchildren, Hannah, Madison, and David. He was a life-long learner and earned a few associates degrees from community colleges in the greater Seattle area.

He was also a great lover of music, especially the Beatles and the Beach Boys, and kept an extensive record collection. Whenever he was asked about his time in the Armed Forces at the Pentagon, he often gave a sly smile and would say, “That’s classified”. .

Alec is survived by his wife Estrella, his four children, his two sisters, Elizabeth (Kelly) and Rose Grace (Nestor), and his extended family. A private service will be held by the family at his final resting place, Forest Lawn Funeral Home, in West Seattle.
