OBITUARY Genshyo Ambo December 21, 1926 – November 5, 2018 Genshyo Ambo (1926-2018) passed away on November 5. His parents were Etsutaro and Asano Ambo, entrepreneurial immigrants from Japan. The youngest of four children, Genshyo grew up in Hiroshima from age 2 until he was a teenager, at which time he returned to Long Beach, California just before WW2.

The family was interned in Jerome, Arkansas during the war. After serving in the US Army, Genshyo married Emiko Yoshihara, with whom he had 4 children while attending the UW. He worked at Boeing as a mechanical engineer until retirement.

He was a fervent prayer warrior who attended Lighthouse Christian Church and enjoyed spending time with his kids and grandchildren. Other interests included gardening, reading, the stock market, skiing, working on cars and tandem bicycling. Although generally quiet, he possessed a quick wit and told interesting stories about Japan, his internment, travels and student interactions while teaching for Boeing.

Genshyo adored his wife until the end, kissing a photo of her a few hours before he passed. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He is survived by his wife, Emiko, and his children, Arlene (Michael), Barb (Wes), Ed (Cathy) and Stan (Hiroko), 10 grandchildren and 3 great-granddaughters.
