Monson-Alexander Marchacos, 66, of Monson passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning at Baystate Medical Center. He was born in Holyoke, MA on August 10, 1952 to the late Anna (Palavis) and Harry Marchacos. Alex grew up in Chicopee and was a graduate of Chicopee High School.

Alex was a dedicated, talented and hard worker, who’s career spanned the pioneer valley and Berkshire county over the years. He worked the docks loading freight at St. Johnsberry and Consolidated Freightways, was a Teamster, cooked and managed at Takoa Country Club, and psychiatric supervisor at Hillcrest Educational Centers. Alex was strong and dedicated father and friend.

He was passionate about life and never missed the opportunity to crack a joke. His laugh was both distinctive and infectious. He loved to coach and watch his two sons (Eric & Alex) play sports.

He was also was an avid outdoorsman, who loved the beach, walking, and kayaking, especially with his son Eric and his Dogs Misty and Milo.
