Obituary for Mr. Alfred Broussard, Sr. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at 9:00 A.M. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in the Plaisance Community,3282 Hwy 167 Opelousas, LA for Alfred Broussard, 99. Interment will take place in the church cemetery. Fr.
Taj Glodd will officiate the Mass of Christian Burial. Alfred Broussard Sr. was born in Carencro, LA on January 5, 1919 to the late Simon Broussard and Azema LeBlanc Broussard. He was united in marriage on October 21, 1942 to Caroline Wheeler from this union, four children were born.
Alfred was a dedicated Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother, Uncle and Friend. He served in the military for 3 years, where he fought in World War II. 1 year was at Camp Brook, AL and 2 years overseas where he traveled; England, France, Belgium, and Germany.
He was a parishioner at St. Joseph Catholic church for 66 years, he was awarded the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. award in 2016. He leaves to mourn his two children, Shirley Broussard Cassimere of Opelousas, LA.
, a son, Alfred Broussard Jr. (Marilyn) of Beaumont TX, two grandchildren, Kelwin Kyle Cassimere (Keisha) of Baton Rouge, LA, Keesler Cassimere Gennuso (DJ) of Carencro, LA. Four great grandchildren, Kayden Kross Cassimere, Joshua Forrest Cassimere III, Karoline Kassimere Gennuso, and Aubrey Grace Cassimere. A loyal and caring great niece, Melissa Wheeler Howard (Quinn) of Friendswood, TX; a loyal and caring great nephew Byron Keith Wheeler (Shalonda) of Baton Rouge, LA; and two great-great nieces, Keichelle Caroline Wheeler (Khylen & Khaleigh) and Taylor Brooke Howard, one great-great nephew Byron Alfred Wheeler, one step granddaughter Sherrill Lazard (Gary) of Opelousas, LA.
, and one step great granddaughter, Bethany Rose Lazard; 3 sisters, Alice Greene of Opelousas LA. , Lovenia Broussard of San Diego, CA, and Ophelia Milo of Port Arthur, TX. Alfred was proceeded in death by his wife, Caroline Wheeler Broussard, a daughter Loretta Broussard; and a son John Larry Broussard, his parents Simon Broussard and Azema Leblanc Broussard, his brother Wilfred Broussard, 3 sisters; Semonia Taylor, Corita Thomas, and Ezola Mayfield.
