Alfred DellaValle, Jr. of North Haven died unexpectedly on February 1, 2019 at MidState Medical Center in Meriden. He was the husband of JoAnn Ciociola DellaValle. Fred was born in New Haven on June 25, 1952 a son of Lorraine Paoletti DellaValle of North Haven and the late Alfred (Mac) DellaValle.

Fred worked at American Medical Response (AMR) for 42 years, holding numerous leadership roles within that time. He inevitably ended his service as the Vice-President of Government Relations. He also worked in partnership with FEMA to coordinate relief efforts for natural disasters around the United States.

As well as that, Fred was deeply involved with AMR’s response during 9/11 A lifelong resident of North Haven, Fred was a lifetime member of the Northeast Volunteer Fire Department and was a member of the North Haven Housing Authority, served as the Authority’s Chairman and was a baseball coach for Max Sinoway Little League in North Haven. Fred was a member and supporter of MADD, Easter Seals Goodwill Industries, the Knights of Columbus, Porcini International and the Unitas Club. Professionally he was actively involved with “Swim Across the Sound” to support St. Vincent’s Hospital and a member of the American Ambulance Association who awarded him the Robert L. Forbus Lifetime Achievement Award in 2017.

More than anything else, Fred loved his family. He was devoted to his wife JoAnn and their sons Fred and Thomas (Robin) DellaValle. He was the proud “Pop Pop” to his grandson Gavin.

A Loving brother to his sister Susan (Edward) Pepe of North Haven and brothers Christopher (Cathy) of Houston TX and Michael (Cathy) DellaValle of North Haven and a proud uncle to his nieces and nephews Edward (Irina) Pepe of Cheshire, Michael Pepe of North Haven, Anthony (Sarah) Pepe of North Haven, Christopher and Andrew DellaValle of Houston, TX, Michael, Matthew and Joseph DellaValle of North Haven. Fred is also survived by two great nieces and countless friends who will miss his compassion, humor and sly smile. Visiting hours will be Tuesday evening from 4-8pm in the Iovanne Funeral Home, Inc. 11 Wooster Place New Haven.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday morning at 10am in St. Elizabeth of the Trinity Parish at St. Therese Church, 555 Middletown Ave. North Haven. PLEASE GO DIRECTLY TO CHURCH ON WEDNESDAY MORNING.

Burial will follow Mass in All Saints Cemetery. The family has requested that memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital PO Box 1000 Dept 142 Memphis, TN 38101-9908.
