Obituary for Alice M. Carney Alice M. Carney, aged 95 years of Hopewell Twp. , passed away early Thursday evening February 22, 2018 in Inspira Medical Center, Vineland after an extended illness. Born in Greenwich Twp.

December 13, 1922 to the late John Sr. and Anna (nee Pierce) Coward, and the wife of the late Walter Carney. Mr. and Mrs. Carney had been residents of the Greenwich area all of their lives until moving to Hopewell Twp. in 1968.

Alice was a longtime member of the Centerton Congregation of Kingdom Hall Jehovah’s Witnesses. She worked for 40 plus years as the cafeteria manager at the Morris Goodwin School in Greenwich and was actually the first manager, being instrumental in 1956 with the start of a cafeteria in the school. Prior to her employment in the school, she had worked for Gorson and McCormick Produce Market.

She enjoyed traveling and camping with her late husband Walter, and spending time with family and friends. She was a faithful devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all. She is survived by her children: Richard W. Carney and his wife Beverly of Ofallen, Missouri, Walter S. Carney Sr. and his wife Billie of Hopewell Twp.

, and Nancy L. Hilliard also of Hopewell Twp. , eight grandchildren Tina M. Wixted, Tammy L. Carl, Lori A. Hilliard, Lisa L. Hilliard, Walter S. Carney Jr., Heather Galiyano, and Albert E. Carney, fifteen great grandchildren, and five great great grands. She was predeceased besides her husband and parents by brothers and sisters: Francis Sammons, Grace Durham, Minnie Coombs, Velma Coombs, Henry Coward, John Coward, and a granddaughter Terry L. Sanchez.

Family and friends are invited to attend funeral services on Thursday March 1, 2018 at 1:00p.m. from the SRAY-WEBSTER FUNERAL HOME 62 Landis Ave. at Carll’s Corner, Upper Deerfield Twp. Interment will be in Fernwood Memorial Park, Hopewell Twp.

. Friends may call on Thursday morning from 11:00a.m. till 1:00p.m.. Family and friends serving as pallbearers will be Walter Carney Sr., Walter Carney Jr., Albert Carney, Tyler Lynch, Terry Lewis, and Nello Gaggini.
