Alice E. Nobbe, age 94 of Batesville, died Tuesday January 29, 2019 at her home. Born May 21, 1924 in Ripley County Indiana, she is the daughter of Matilda (Nee: Kieffer) and Fred Yager. She married John Nobbe August 23, 1950 in Rushville, Indiana and he preceded her in death October 25, 2009.

She was a member of Holy Family Church and the Knights of St. John Ladies Auxiliary. For several years she worked as an R.N. and OR nurse at Margaret Mary Hospital. After her marriage, she and John farmed.

Alice always enjoyed having family at the house and the more, the merrier. She especially looked forward having the grandkids around and getting to hold the little ones. She liked cooking for them and made sure everyone was well fed.

The family pointed out that, “If you went home hungry, it was your own fault”. The smell of homemade bread and her ever present deserts will surely be missed. Alice was a Bengals fan and an avid Reds fan.

She liked raising a garden each year and played Euchre weekly with her siblings until just recently. She is survived by her daughters and son-in-laws Ruth Ann and Ben Starost of Oldenburg, Marjorie and Perry Suding of Sunman, Bernice and Mike Rosemeyer of Sunman; sons and daughter-in-laws Roy and Deb Nobbe of Greensburg, Art Nobbe of Greensburg, Frank and Victoria Nobbe of Batesville, Andrew and Anne Nobbe of Batesville, Bernard and Lisa Nobbe of Sunman; sisters Alberta Nueman of Rushville, Esther Nieman of Greensburg; brothers Francis Yager of Rushville, Alfred Yager of Rushville, Henry Yager of Clarksburg, Indiana; 28 grandchildren and 48 great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she is also preceded in death by daughter-in-law Elaine Nobbe, grandson Jason Starost and great grandchildren Sophie and Katherine Nobbe.

Visitation is Friday, February 1st from 4 – 7 p.m. at the funeral home with a rosary service at 4 p.m. Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 2nd, at the Srs. of St. Francis Convent Chapel in Oldenburg and burial will be in Holy Family Cemetery.
