OBITUARY Alice Maxie Jaehne March 5, 1923 – September 14, 2018 Alice Maxie Jaehne, 95, passed away on September 14, 2018. She was the youngest of ten children. Alice was born on March 5, 1923 in Moulton, Texas, to Anna Beran Maresh and John Maresh where she grew up on a farm.
The family raised cotton, animals and produce where she and her siblings worked alongside their parents. She graduated from Moulton High School. At the age of 19 Alice worked at the Victoria airport where she acquired a pilot’s license after only eight hours of instruction.
Alice and her sisters riveted planes during World War II as men went to war. She moved to Houston and was hired by Texaco Oil and Gas as an office administrator. While working at Texaco she met George Jaehne, who was working at Mutual Hardware Insurance Company, on a blind date.
They married in 1952 and had three children. Alice was a devoted wife, mother and a parishioner at St. Maximillian Kolbe Catholic Church. She was very involved with the Lions Club.
Alice loved polka dancing. Like most older people, she would complain about her aches and pains, however, when the music started she was on her feet dancing around the room. David Jaehne, her eldest, preceded her in death as well as her husband George Jaehne of 63 years.
Survivors include Deborah Jaehne, Nancy Jaehne Kalal and husband, Joe Kalal; numerous nieces and nephews. Her unconditional love, humor, “take charge” attitude and generosity will not be forgotten. Interment will follow at Memorial Oaks Cemetery, 13001 Katy Frwy. , Houston, Tx. 77079.
A reception will follow at the church. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in memory of Alice Jaehne to the Lions Club Houston.
