Alice Bohuniek of Sleepy Hollow died January 8, 2019 peacefully at home. She was 89. Born in Luxembourg on February 27, 1929, she was the daughter of Emil and Catherine Schwarz Schmit.

Alice came to the United States in 1951 and married Charles Bohuniek in Holy Cross Church on December 23, 1951. She had been a parishioner of Holy Cross Church and then St. Teresa of Avila Church. She was a member of the Sleepy Hollow Seniors, the Leisure Club and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aeries 1042 where she was Past Madame President.

Alice also had volunteered for the Hudson Valley Blood Bank. Alice is survived by her daughters Joan (Lloyd) Conners of Port Chester and Diane (Douglas) Heffernan of Wilmington, NC. She was also the proud grandmother of Lisa (Andrew) Sullivan, Danny (Lindsay) Conners, Alison (John) Telesca, Ryan Heffernan, Tyler Heffernan, John (Ashley) Bohuniek, Melissa (Justin) Bohuniek and Christopher Bohuniek and great grandmother of Caroline Sullivan and Eleanor Telesca.

Also surviving is her sister Felicie Bariviera in Luxembourg and her daughter-in-law Michelle Bohuniek. Her husband Charles predeceased her in 1989 and her son John predeceased her in 2018. Visitation will be at Coffey Funeral Home on Friday from 4PM to 8PM.

Her Funeral Mass will be at St. Teresa of Avila Church on Saturday at 10:00 with interment to follow in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery.
