Allan “Butch” H. Briere, 75, of Gwinn, died Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at his home. He was born December 12, 1943 in Windham, Connecticut, a son of the late Henry and Olga (Plaksa) Briere. He was a 1961 graduate of Windham High School and attended the University of Connecticut.

On July 25, 1975 he married Judith Melka in Columbia, Connecticut. Butch had worked in construction, was employed with CCI at the Mather B Mine, but spent most of his working years as an electrician… Read More » with the Electric Boat Company building submarines for the US Government. He retired in 2003.

In 2008 he moved to the Gwinn area. Butch was a member of the Elks. He enjoyed antique cars and Corvette’s, outdoor sports including hunting, skiing & snowmobiling.

He also loved fireworks and following the UConn Huskies Men’s & Women’s basketball teams. He will be remembered as a “Jack of All Trades” and as a man who loved his family. He is survived by his wife, Judith Briere of Gwinn; children, Scott Briere of Avon, CT, Lisa (Mike) Houle of Hampton, CT, Craig Capizzi of Atlanta, GA and Lisa Capizzi of Norwich, CT; grandchildren, Nick, Riley, Ben, Marissa, Jake and Rena; a great-grandchild, Eva; sister, Christine (Harold) Couch of Simsburg, CT; sister-in-law, Bonnie (Richard) Harvey of Marquette; and nieces & nephew, Caprice, Mindy, Talon and their children.
