OBITUARY Alma Mitchell McDonnell February 1, 1927 – August 31, 2018 Alma Mitchell McDonnell, age 91, of Mandeville, Louisiana passed away on Friday, August 31, 2018 after a long illness. She was born and raised in New Orleans, and after Hurricane Katrina she relocated to Mandeville with her husband and daughter. She was the devoted wife of the late, Joseph T. McDonnell, Jr.; loving mother of Joseph T. McDonnell III and the late Kathleen McDonnell; grandmother of Benjamin and Nicholas McDonnell; and aunt of Michael and Stephen Baxter.

Alma was a secretary at Lone Star Industries where she met her loving husband and later retired. She devoted the rest of her life to her loving family and grandchildren. Alma was a devoted catholic and was an altar server at St. Louis King of France.

She lived life to the fullest as all native New Orleanians do. Alma was an amazing cook who made sure her family and grandchildren never wanted for anything. She will be dearly missed.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Memorial Mass in the Chapel of Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans, on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at 11:00 AM. The family invites you to share your thoughts, fond memories, and condolences online at www.
