OBITUARY Alvin Miles Runnells April 13, 1934 – October 1, 2018 Play Tribute Movie Alvin Miles Runnells, 84, passed away Oct. 1, 2018 from Parkinson’s. He was born to Claire and Miles Runnells in Portland OR.

He and his family survived the Vanport Flood in 1948, and then continued living in Portland. Alvin attended St. Peters Catholic Grammar and then Benson High School before going into the US Army. Sgt.

A. M. Runnells served in country during the Korean War. It was at this time that he lost the hearing in one ear from cannon fire. He worked for Otis Elevator as an installer and then gained employment in the Electrical Construction Industry primarily at Tice Electric Co. and Taylor Electric Supply.

Alvin married Charlene Faye Rothenberg Sept. 12, 1959 and they had two daughters Rachel Ann Norris (Newberg, OR) and Rebecca Louise Aldrich (Greg) Harrisburg, NC. He is survived by his brother Donald Runnells, a sister Patricia Mello, as well as his wife Charlene, both daughters and six grandchildren.

Rachel’s are; Jesse Holland, Adam and Aleah Norris… Rebecca’s are; SSGT Griffin Aldrich USAF, Julia, and Lauren Aldrich. Services will be held at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 17010 NE 9th Street, Vancouver, WA. The time will be 11:00AM Wednesday, October 10, 2018.

A reception will follow at the church. Internment will be at Willamette National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please consider donating to Parkinson’s Research in his name.
