Obituary for Ana Celia Delgado Rodriguez Ana Celia Delgado Rodriguez, 101, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 11, 2019, at Pleasant Valley Manor with her family and the loving, caring staff at the nursing home, where she resided for the past nine years. She was the widow of Manuel Rodriguez. Born in Puerto Rico, Ana was the daughter of the late Teodoro and Josephine (Betancourt) Delgado.

Ana was of the Roman Catholic faith. She was employed as an elementary school teacher in the New York City Public School System where she retired and moved to Pennsylvania to be with her family. Ana than found time to Volunteer at the Pocono Hospital with over 3,800 hours of service.

She than became a Eucharistic Minister and volunteer at Saint Matthews Church. She was also instrumental in collecting pledges for the building of Saint John’s Church in Marshalls Creek, Pennsylvania. While she was retired she also found time to become an author and write a book about her family.

Ana is survived by her daughter Alice Plasencia of East Stroudsburg, son Reverend Manuel Rodriguez, Redemptorist Director of Secretariat of Formation in Rome Italy, and son Freddie Rodriguez. Also granddaughters; Margaret Ann Plasencia Chiniewicz and Catherine Ann Plasencia, and great greatchildren; Christopher Allen Yocum, Robert Plasencia Chiniewicz, Courtney Alicia Yocum, and Joshua Taylor Plasencia Chiniewicz. Visitation will be held Saturday, January 19, 2019 from 9:30-10:30AM, followed by a mass of Christian burial at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church, 200 Brodhead Ave, East Stroudsburg, PA 18301.

Burial will follow in Stroudsburg Cemetery. The Joseph J. Pula Funeral Home, Inc. 23 N 9th Street, Stroudsburg, PA 18360 is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you make a donation to Pleasant Valley Manor in her name, the address is 4227 Manor Drive, Stroudsburg, PA 18360.
