Andre’s Obituary Andre William Mullen, affectionately known as “Drey”, was born on August 21, 1967 in Brooklyn, NY to William and Brenda Mullen. He attended PS 73, JHS 258 and Erasmus High School. He was a part of the SAM program for gifted students.
Andre accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of the Science of Life Temple Christian Church. Growing up Andre always had a love for music. He played saxaphone in the school band.
He also loved the keyboard and had a gift for playing music by ear. In his early teens, he began to write music, produce and perform under his stage name “Drey Love”. He would freestyle to anyone who would listen and even be his own hype man.
Andre was down to earth, laid back, quiet with a great sense of humor. His favorite holiday was April Fool’s Day. He would never miss the opportunity to go out of his way for a good prank, calling everyone he could think of just for a good laugh.
Andre had a nickname for everyone and once he changed your name that’s what people will know you as. Andre was full of confidence. He would often brag about his “Mullen Beauty” and would never miss the opportunity to take a few pics.
He was a simple man who didn’t require much to make him happy. He loved amusement parks, parades, barbeques, watching sports and talking trash about whoever played against his favorite teams. He always looked forward to spending time with his family.
Andre had a lot of love for everybody. If you were sick in the hospital he would visit, and if it was your birthday he would show up at your door with his famous knock and hop in his step. He loved popping up at your house without calling, just so he can surprise you.
He was a man of few words but had a big heart. In 2016 Andre became ill which led to many hospital visits, treatments, and surgeries. Despite it all, he remained positive, faithful, and strong.
It took a lot to keep him down, he was always on the move. In early November, during what was supposed to be a brief visit to Syracuse, Andre became very ill. Cheryl stayed by his side every day.
All he would talk about was his plans once he was discharged and back in Brooklyn. Most of his plans had to be put on hold but one plan that he was determined about was to marry Cheryl and on December 12, 2018 they exchanged vows. Andre departed this life on December 13, 2018.
