Anna Kathryn (Cinders) Mullenax, 85, passed away on Saturday, April 14, 2018, after a courageous battle with cancer. She died peacefully surrounded by loving family. Anna was born on December 31, 1932, in Enon Valley, Pennsylvania, to Frank Joseph Cinders and Catherine (Pizer) Cinders.

She attended St. Joseph’s until 4th grade and then moved to East Los Angeles where she attended Catholic school from 5th through 11th grade. She then moved back to Pocatello where she completed her senior year in high school and graduated from Pocatello High School. She later returned to Los Angeles.
Anna met the love of her life and her soulmate, Stanley Mullenax, in June 1952, while living in Los Angeles, California. They were married three months later on September 13, 1952, and were married until his death in June 2008. She returned to Pocatello with her husband and kids in 1965 where they wanted to raise their kids.
Her talents were immense and she took nothing for granted as she came from humble beginnings being born during the Great Depression. She was an avid reader, kept up with current events, and had her favorite shows that were shared with many of her kids. She loved to crochet and made hundreds of beautiful afghans to give to family and friends.
Anna and Stanley always prided themselves with growing a large garden and Anna spent many hours canning and cooking the harvest. She was the family historian and loved to research family genealogy and history so that she could preserve the family history and pass it onto her children and their children. She selflessly cared for her husband and children and was so proud of each one of them.
She always put family first and provided so much care and protection to her children. She was the go to phone call when we had questions, struggles, or needed advice on decisions. She was the original “google”.
She enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren and when she was in good health enjoyed having them visit. She was also known for cooking amazing food and hosting many family members for holidays for many years. Each family member has some favorite memory of her favorite cooking.
Top on the list were her famous holiday “potato candy,” and Saturday morning pancakes (100! ). Her mother would frequently send boxes of lemons from California and she was known to make her famous homemade lemon meringue pies and lemonade.
Anna was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Stanley, her parents, and younger brothers Jan Cinders and Raymond Cinders. She is survived by her ten children, Margaret Mullenax, Pocatello; Catherine (Rick) Millard, Pocatello; Sharon (Jay) Sheppick, Blackfoot; Craig Mullenax, Pocatello; Greg (Shauna) Mullenax, Bloomfield, New Mexico; Michael Mullenax, Pocatello; Paul (Donna) Mullenax, Evanston, Wyoming; Raymond Mullenax, Boise, Idaho; Jon Mullenax, Pocatello; and Cinnia (Kyle) Kitterman, Boise, Idaho; and her sister Cinnia Easley, Yucaipa, California. She is also survived by 21 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Steven Krawtz, and his staff “Peggy #1,” and Shelley for their medical care and support. Anna also appreciated Father Roger LaChance who would provide her home visits to celebrate the Rite of Communion and offer her spiritual support. We will miss our Mother dearly and take comfort in knowing she is now joined with our Dad, and her soulmate.
Thank you, Mom, for your love and devotion to us children. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, April 20th at Downard Funeral Home, 241 North Garfield Ave. , Pocatello, with Father Roger LaChance officiating.
