Annastasia’s Obituary Annastasia “Stella” E. Bennett, 92, of South Portland, formerly of Scarborough, died peacefully at home on January 17, 2019. Born in Portland to Fred and Rose (Elkins) Eschook, she attended local schools. Stella was married to Leonard “Dutch” F. Bennett for 45 years until his passing in 1992.

She was also predeceased by her infant sister Mary, brother Leon Eschook, and son-in-law Dennis Pittman, She is survived by her son Stephen Bennett of Scarborough, her daughters Linda Pittman of Oceanside, CA, and Theresa and her husband Greg “Buster” Libby of Punta Gorda, FL, three grandsons Darren, Cody and Jackson Bennett; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Stella enjoyed visiting and traveling with friends and family, reading, doing jigsaw and crossword puzzles, watching PBS programming, crocheting and knitting. Her afghans, shawls, hats and mittens have been enjoyed by many.

Stella was a happy, spiritual and giving woman who was grateful for everyday of her life. She is, and will be, missed by all those whose lives she touched. The family extends its heartfelt thanks to Stella’s friends at Ridgeland Estates for their kindness and continued support through the years.

A graveside service is being planned for the spring.
