Obituary for Anne J. Fjestad Anne J. Fjestad, age 98, a resident of Fergus Falls, passed away Thursday, May 24, 2018, at the LB Broen Home in Fergus Falls under the excellent care of the LB Broen Home staff and LB Hospice. Anne was born on November 29, 1919, to Paul and Alma (Krog) Olson in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. She attended school in Fergus Falls, and graduated from Fergus Falls High School in 1937.
After high school, she worked at the Star Laundry and Cleaners in Fergus Falls. On October 21, 1945, Anne married Frank O. Fjestad at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls. The couple moved to a farm in rural Carlisle, MN, where they established a dairy farm, raised their family and resided for 45 years before moving to Fergus Falls in 1990.
Anne also worked in retail for a time at Tischart’s Fabrics, S & L Department Store and Bostwick’s in Fergus Falls. After her husband’s death in 1993, Anne lived in a couple of apartments in Fergus Falls prior to entering the Broen Home in April of 2013. Anne was a long-time member of Hedemarken Lutheran Church, having participated in Sunday school, Ladies Aid and Circle.
She had also been a member of the Carlisle Homemakers and had served as a 4-H Leader for the Carlisle 4-H. Anne was an excellent cook and took pride in having something delicious prepared for her family and guests. Anne loved flowers and, while on the farm, she grew beautiful roses and chrysanthemums.
She also loved decorating and brought her flowers indoors to be enjoyed by all. She enjoyed time spent with family and friends. Preceding her in death were her parents, Paul and Alma Olson, her husband, Frank Fjestad; her son, Ted Fjestad; brothers, Mel, Paul, Harry; sisters, Vivian Luebke and Irene Fick.
Survivors include her daughter, Becky (Leon) Merz of Fergus Falls; granddaughters, Erin (Brandon) Stahl of St. Louis Park, Kari Fjestad of Chaska; great-granddaughter, Avery Stahl of St. Louis Park; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
