Obituary of Anthony Brooks Anthony W. “Tony” Brooks Anthony W. “Tony” Brooks passed away peacefully on Monday, October 29, 2018 at St Vincent Hospital in Erie, PA. He was born on August 29, 1965 in Inglewood, CA to Elmer “Joe” Brooks and Mary Lou Gillis. He spent his early years in Southern California and Detroit MI, where he developed his love for every Detroit team & the University of Michigan.

He moved to Erie, PA when he was 13. He was a 1983 graduate of East High School in Erie. He attended Gannon University in Erie and Weber State University in Ogden, UT.

He married Lori Hansen on June 7th 1998 in Las Vegas, NV. They initially made their home in Pine Mountain, CA before moving to Salt Lake City, UT in 2002. He worked for the United States Postal Service displaying a wonderful knack for problem solving and positive leadership.

Tony lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures; chatting with family and friends, Tony was able to reach people in a deep and positive way. If you were his friend, you were a lifelong friend. He was generous with all he had.

Tony had the biggest heart. He couldn’t tolerate suffering and did all he could to alleviate it wherever he saw it. He helped many, many people and countless discarded animals.

Tony was larger than life. He was always the life of the party. He had a hearty, infectious laugh.

He loved music of every kind. He enjoyed concerts and being a karaoke ham. Tony was a great story teller and could talk for hours, keeping everyone interested.

He loved sports, especially his beloved Detroit teams and U of M, razzing those who supported the opposing team. Tony didn’t have biological children but he was an awesome Dad to his many fur babies and was always there for his nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, father & step-father, Ignacio Melendez and one nephew Ricky Brooks.

He is survived by his wife, Brother Tim (Mary) Brooks; Sisters Tammy (Frank) Lindsey & Misty (Chris) Wood and many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces & nephews and his beloved fur kids. The family would like to send a special “thank you” to all those who took care of Tony, especially St. Vincent ICU and the 8 North Teams. Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Rd.

on Friday, November 2, 2018 from 4 p.m. until time of sharing to reminisce, grieve, support one another and of course to laugh! at 7:00 p.m. Private interment. If you are ever feeling sad and missing Tony, commit a random act of kindness on his behalf.
