OBITUARY Antonio M.V. Arroja June 22, 1945 – December 5, 2018 Antonio M.V. Arroja, age 73, of New Bedford, passed away on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at St. Luke’s Hospital. He was the husband of Geraldine Claire (LaPlante) Arroja with whom he shared 45 years of marriage. Mr. Arroja was born in Monchique, Portugal, the son of the late Antonio Rosa Arroja and Lucinda DePaiva (Valerio) Arroja.

He immigrated to the United States in 1972 and settled in New Bedford. He was educated in Portugal and served in the Portuguese military. Mr. Arroja was a talented mason who worked for the City of New Bedford until his retirement.

While in Portugal, he enjoyed tending to his lemon, olive and fig trees. Antonio enjoyed working on new projects around his home and loved spending time with his family. Surviving in addition to his wife are his sons, Marc A. Arroja and his wife Erin of New Bedford and Kevin Arroja and his wife Chrissy of Dartmouth; and four grandchildren, Marc, Nicholas, Kiara and Victoria.
