April Gibson’s Obituary April Reneé Gibson Manuel, 56, beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and aunt, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, February 6, 2019. She was born July 25, 1962, in Salisbury, Maryland, to Nancy J. Hall (née Gibson), Isaiah Hall, and José Cruz. She was a student at Parkside High School in Wicomico County, Maryland.

She attended The Mother Church of God In Christ in Wilmington, Delaware. April developed a Self-Ministry of Care & Compassion for others, especially the elderly, and worked in several different nursing homes, one of which was Churchman Village. There, she developed unconditional love for a couple named, Harry and Louise.

She cared for them and loved them like her own. April was affectionately called “Poo Bear” by her grandchildren. She loved everybody and everyone loved her.

She would give you the shirt off of her back if she could. She was definitely known for her loving and caring spirit for her family and friends. April could be counted on to be the “Life of the Party!

” She could light up the room with her beautiful smile and graceful presence. In addition to her parents, she leaves to cherish precious memories: two loving daughters, Shanika M. Manuel of Salisbury and Brandy N. Carter of Wilmington; four siblings, Joseph (Vicki) Gibson of Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina, Devora (Francis, Sr.) Frisby of New Castle, Delaware, Mark (Kista) Thurman of Virginia Beach, Virginia, and Felecia Opyio of Wilmington; four grandchildren, Keon Manuel, Keyonna Warren, Brionna Warren, and Imani Manuel; a devoted companion, Carlton Carter; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors, and friends. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Wavie and Cora Lee Gibson.

Ms. Manuel will lie in repose on Tuesday, February 12, 2019, from 11 AM to 12 PM at First Baptist Church, 528 Booth Street and Delaware Avenue, Salisbury. The funeral service will begin at 12 PM. Disposition will be private.
