Salem – Arden L. Sauerwein, age 80, of Salem, died on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at his home with his family and friends by his side. He was born on August 6, 1938 in Greenford, a son of the late William A. and Christine Kentzel Sauerwein. Arden was a veteran of the United States Army where he was stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War.

He was the owner and operator of D’Lux Motors Inc. in Columbiana and was a member of Good Hope Lutheran Church, North Lima. Arden was a member of the York Drexler Post #5532 VFW in Washingtonville, the Better Business Bureau, Columbiana Chamber of Commerce and a 50 year member of both the Ohio Independent Auto Dealer Association and the National Independent Auto Dealer Association. He enjoyed spending time in the outdoors, hunting, fishing and vacationing at his second home in Idaho.

Arden was an avid basketball player, a Cleveland Cavaliers fan, South Range School supporter and most of all, he enjoyed the time with his family. He is survived by his wife, Jean Burbick Sauerwein, whom he married on December 19, 1964; a daughter, Tiffany (Ralph) Del Signore of Lowellville; two sons, Todd (Justina Channel) Sauerwein of Salem and Troy (Lauri) Sauerwein of Salem; a sister, Wilma (Harry) Arkwright of Lisbon; two brothers, Bill (Nancy) Sauerwein of North Lima and Pete (Diane) Sauerwein of Salem; three granddaughters, Morgan, Brooke and Devin Sauerwein and a grandson, Joshua Wilding. Arden was preceded in death by a brother, Glenn Sauerwein.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 7, 2018 at the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 8, 2018 at Good Hope Lutheran Church, North Lima, with Pastor Ralph Edwards officiating. Burial will be in Columbiana Cemetery.
