Ardtha Faye (Dunn) Richards, 89, of Frostburg, graduated to Heaven to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on September 11, 2018 from Western Maryland Regional Medical Center, Cumberland, MD. Born June 20, 1929 in Woodland, she was the daughter of the late James Dunn and Minnie Margaret (Miller) Dunn. She is preceded in death by her husband, John W. Richards; and sisters, Gladys Willetts and twin sister, Olive Fatkin, and brother, James Dunn.

She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was a graduate of Beall High School class of 1947 and worked as a secretary for the Registrar, Elizabeth Hitchins, at Frostburg State Teachers College after high school and retired after 10 years of service to begin raising her family. She loved being a wife, mother, and homemaker and was meticulous in all her endeavors: Her kitchen smelled of delicious food at mealtime.

She delighted manicuring her lawn and weeding her shrubbery. Neighbors recall that her clothes line was always full. A woman who loved her Lord and Savior, she was a member of the Frostburg Assembly of Christians and shared her faith in the Lord Jesus Christ by her manor of life and Christian witness.

She loved her family deeply and is dearly loved and will be sorely missed by her surviving two sons, Brad, and Brent (wife Lynne); sister-in-law, Marie Dunn; brothers-in-law David Richards (wife Sheila), Carlos; Tom Richards (wife Pat), Carlos; Donald Richards (friend Dot), and Bill Speir, Carlos, as well as many nieces and nephews on both the Dunn and Richards’ sides of the family. She is survived by special niece Karen Willetts Kokora (husband Pascal). Special thanks belong to Carol Green for seven years of faithful care-giving in Ardtha’s home and at Egle Nursing Home, and other supporting care givers: Pat Counihan, and Brenda Spencer.

Henriette Soro, who adopted Ardtha as her mom, provided support and special care as well. Also, special thanks belongs to the caring and attentive staff at Egle Nursing And Rehab Center, and in particular, to Dawn Snyder of the Western Maryland Health System Center for Clinical Res, invaluable, and faithful support to Ardtha during her lengthy illness. Friends will be received at the Sowers Funeral Home on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9.

Funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home Friday, September 14, 2018 at 11 a.m. with Evangelist William Seale officiating. Interment will be in Frostburg Memorial Park.
